Executive Membership costs $130 per year and also includes rewards like 2% cashback on purchases, extra service savings, and added Costco Travel benefits.
Now that fall has (unofficially) begun, Costco is rolling out a major new perk for shoppers. Beginning September 2, the big-box retailer will open its doors an hour earlier, but only for certain members. The new "exclusive" benefit is only available to Costco members with an Executive Membership, which costs $130 per year.
Costco first informed its customers of this change in an email sent on June 11, which noted that all Costco locations will open at 9 a.m. local time for Executive members, while Business members and Gold Star members (who pay just $65 annually) won't be permitted inside Costco until 10 a.m. local time. According to the June 11 email, Costco warehouses will also remain open for an extra hour on Saturdays for all members, closing at 7 p.m. local time instead of 6 p.m.
While the new Saturday schedule went into effect on July 5, the Executive member hours formally went into effect today, following a trial period that lasted for several weeks at select Costco outposts all around the country. Per the Costco website: "As of June 30, 2025, exclusive earlier shopping hours for Executive members may be available at your local warehouse. Check store details for more information."
Given these new changes, the shopping hours exclusively for Costco Executive members are as follows:
Costco Executive members are also, of course, permitted to shop during regular store hours, though they might want to take advantage of the earlier start since stores will likely be much less crowded.
Other perks available to Costco Executive members include an annual 2% reward on qualified Costco purchases, additional benefits and greater savings on certain Costco services, and extra benefits on select Costco Travel products.
