Former New Orleans S&WB employee arrested after alleged workers' compensation fraud, AG says

A former employee for the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans was arrested on Friday after allegedly committing workers' compensation fraud, according to Attorney General Liz Murrill.

Ederik Trask, 44, of Metairie, was booked into Orleans Parish Jail on one count of misrepresentations concerning benefits over $10,000.

In August, Louisiana Bureau of Investigation agents received a complaint from a S&WB representative, alleging that a former employee possibly committed workers' compensation fraud, Murrill said.

Agents conducted an investigation and found what Murrill described as an "overwhelming" amount of evidence that Trask continuously obtained workers' compensation benefits while employed at a rideshare company.

Trask surrendered to agents at Orleans Parish Jail and was booked without incident. His bond is unknown at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
