If you're a fan of the Saw franchise, you should be checking out some deals on 4K players. Three of the best sequels in the highly popular horror franchise, Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV, are set to receive the 4K Blu-ray treatment this Halloween. These are Amazon-exclusive steelbook releases, so they feature completely new artwork, and frankly, it looks awesome.
As reported by ComicBook.com, the highly anticipated 4K versions of the movies are already listed on Amazon (the outlet reports that Saw II is available for pre-order, although the listing currently appears unavailable). Reportedly, they will be released in October 2025, giving fans plenty of time to purchase the discs and plan their watchlists during the spooky season.
The three sequels were directed by Darren Lynn Bousman after James Wan handed over the reins. 2004's Saw was a huge hit, and producers did not waste time. They started planning sequels right away, and one year later, Saw II landed in theaters. The "one Saw movie every Halloween" pattern stayed alive up until Saw 3D, which was released in 2010.
Saw III was intended to be the end of the series. It was certainly written as if the franchise would end there. Nevertheless, the film was extremely successful at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing sequel in the entire franchise. Saw IV came one year later, and brought many changes along with it. It was the first to introduce a new antagonist to carry on John Kramer's legacy.
There Are Plenty of Special Features in the 'Saw' 4K Releases
As expected, these 4K releases are set to include plenty of bonus features. Some of them may have already been included in previous releases, but it's always great to have them all in one place. Some standouts include the featurette Gregg Hoffman: In Memoriam (included in the Saw II release), honoring the late franchise producer, and Amanda: Evolution of a Killer (included in the Saw III release), which explains Amanda's character arc from victim to antagonist.
