Message from Dedie Rachim on the occasion of National Santri Day 2025
To commemorate and recall the ideas of the ulama and the heroic events which show the role of santri in the nation's struggle, October 22 every year is celebrated as National Santri Day.
The determination of this date refers to Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 22 of 2015 regarding Santri Day. This presidential decree was signed by President Joko Widodo in Jakarta on October 15, 2015.
Apart from this, the reason why October 22 was chosen as Santri Day is because it refers to the call for the resolution of Jihad on October 22, 1945 by Santri clerics and Islamic boarding schools in various regions. The Jihad Resolution obliges Muslims to defend their homeland and defend Indonesia's independence.
In Bogor City, the commemoration of Santri Day took place solemnly in a ceremony held at Bogor City Hall Square, Wednesday (10/22/2025).
Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim served as the inspector of the National Santri Day 2025 commemoration ceremony with the theme "Keeping an Independent Indonesia Towards World Civilization".
On this occasion, Dedie Rachim read the speech of the Minister of Religion, Nasaruddin Umar, who began by recalling the services of heroes, ulemas and Islamic students in independence.
"10 years (since the proclamation of Santri Day) is not a short time and in this corridor, Islamic boarding schools and Islamic boarding schools have become stronger in various sectors of life. Islamic boarding schools have long been educational centers which not only produce intellectually intelligent generations but are also strong in morality and character," he said.
Interpreting the words of the Minister of Religion, Dedie Rachim said that the message conveyed was very clear that students of Islamic boarding schools must be the solution to the problems that exist in this nation.
"So this message is quite strong and should be interpreted as a mandate to be able to place students in strategic positions. Not just as spectators, but as solution providers," he said.
In Bogor City, the existence of Islamic boarding schools and Islamic boarding schools is reinforced by the existence of a regional regulation (Perda) regarding Islamic boarding schools in Bogor City, including Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2022 regarding the Facilitation of the Implementation of Islamic Boarding Schools, which was stipulated on March 21, 2022.
This regional regulation aims to facilitate the implementation of Islamic boarding schools which cover various aspects, such as education, infrastructure and strengthening the economy of Islamic boarding schools.
"So, the existence of this regional regulation on Islamic boarding schools is a manifestation of the concern of the Bogor City Government for Islamic boarding schools. So we don't talk nonsense. So whatever the government can provide is protected and the legal framework is the regional regulation," he said.
On this occasion, his party also invited Islamic students and boarding schools to participate in the Waste Free Indonesia program by 2029.
"I ask the Islamic boarding schools in Bogor city to start processing waste and make the Islamic boarding schools one of the cleanest places and I ask these Islamic boarding schools, as the Minister of Religion said, to be agents of change," said Dedie Rachim.
For information, this ceremony took place in the presence of the deputy mayor of Bogor, Jenal Mutaqin; Bogor City Regional Secretary (Sekda), Denny Mulyadi; as well as the ranks of the Bogor City Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) as well as participants and leaders of various madrasa schools, Islamic boarding schools, integrated Islamic schools and Islamic organizations.
