Connecticut High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Nov. 3

The Connecticut high school football season is mixed with the public school play of the CIAC and private schools primarily competes out of the Founders League, with many of results already giving folks a clearer picture of the 2025 campaign as it reaches the midway point.

Taking the No. 1 spot in this week's Top 25 rankings out of the Constitution State is St. Thomas More after a 14-12 loss to Virginia's No. 1 ranked The St. James Academy. Following them up is New Canaan and Avon Old Farms at 2-3, respectively. Which other teams from around Connecticut high school football deserves to be in the discussion?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Connecticut high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 3.

St. Thomas More (1-2) takes over as the No. 1 team in our latest set of rankings after just narrowly falling to The St. James Academy, one of the top high school football teams out of Virginia, 14-12.

Avon Old Farms (8-0) opened up the Connecticut high school football season by avenging a loss to Brunswick School from last season and have set the tone for the rest of the campaign. The Beavers have a talented offense that's averaging well over 30 points per game, led by quarterback Matthew Baer, running back Kharon Craig, and offensive tackle Charlie Thom (Notre Dame commitment).

The Beavers recently picked up their biggest win of the season, knocking off previously undefeated Dexter School (Mass.), 29-28. Avon Old Farms defeated The Loomis Chaffee School, 31-28, last week and this Friday will take on Salisbury School (4-4).

The defending Class L state champion Rams (7-0) haven't looked too much different than they did a season ago as they've rolled to seven dominating wins over and most recently over Stamford, 42-7.

New Canaan has used a high-powered offense to cruise past the first few of opponents so far, with quarterback Maddox Hoffman throwing for 1,060 yards and 12 touchdowns this fall. Running back Henry Stein has rushed for 558 yards and four touchdowns.

The Rams look to make it eight in a row when they take on Staples this week.

Choate Rosemary Hall (6-2) saw its 18-game winning streak snapped back in Week 1 when they lost against New Hampshire's Phillips Exeter Academy in a battle of top-ranked teams in their respective states. Next up the Wild Boars take on Deerfield Academy of Massachusetts this week.

In 2024, the Wild Boars had completed their second consecutive perfect season after defeating Brunswick School. They have lost only four games over the last four Connecticut high school football seasons and only allowed only three opponent to score double digits.

The Wild Boars are another prep school that features multiple future Division I players, including Tanner Raymond (Rutgers) and interior offense lineman Will Tellers.

The Windsor Warriors (7-0) has been very dominant in their last four outings, out-scoring opponents 219-7.

Windsor has received strong quarterback play from senior Anthony Robinson, who has completed 102 of 139 passes for 1,838 yards, 21 touchdowns and only one interception thrown. Junior wide receiver Jayden Compton has been the primary target for Robinson, catching 42 passes for 922 yards and 11 touchdowns.
