10 biggest transfers of 2025/26 summer valued at £800m - Businessday NG

Premier League clubs once again dominated the summer transfer market, spending at unprecedented levels. The English top flight shattered its own record, with total spending of £ 3.08 billion, more than the combined spending of the Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1.

Here are the top 10 biggest moves of the summer window:

Alexander Isak - Newcastle United to Liverpool (£125m)

Liverpool smashed the British transfer record to sign Sweden striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle. The fee could rise to £130m with add-ons, as Jürgen Klopp's side retooled their attack. Isak, 25, said he joined Anfield "to create history and win trophies."

Florian Wirtz - Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool (£116m)

Liverpool also secured German playmaker Florian Wirtz in a deal worth £116m. Regarded as one of Europe's most gifted midfielders, Wirtz directly contributed to over 120 goals at Leverkusen and is expected to be central to Liverpool's new era.

Hugo Ekitike - Eintracht Frankfurt to Liverpool (£82m)

The Reds completed a third marquee signing with the arrival of Hugo Ekitike for £82m including bonuses. The 23-year-old French striker adds depth and versatility to Liverpool's frontline, praised for his intelligent movement and finishing.

Benjamin Sesko - RB Leipzig to Manchester United (£73.7m)

United bolstered their attack with Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko on a five-year deal. The fee includes £66.3m guaranteed and performance-related add-ons. Sesko, 22, is seen as a long-term solution at centre-forward.

Nick Woltemade - VfB Stuttgart to Newcastle United (£69m)

Newcastle broke their own transfer record to sign Germany striker Nick Woltemade. The 23-year-old becomes the Magpies' most expensive player ever, surpassing Isak's previous record £63m move.

Bryan Mbeumo - Brentford to Manchester United (£71m)

Cameroon winger Bryan Mbeumo joined Manchester United for £71m, with £65m paid upfront. He called the move to Old Trafford "a dream come true" as he looks to add creativity and goals from wide positions.

Victor Osimhen - Napoli to Galatasaray (£65m)

Nigeria's Victor Osimhen stunned the football world by joining Galatasaray in a Turkish Süper Lig record £65m move. The Super Eagles striker, who had already fired Gala to the league title on loan, now makes the switch permanent.

Matheus Cunha - Wolves to Manchester United (£64m)

United triggered the £64m release clause of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha. The 26-year-old scored 31 goals in 76 games for Wolves and became part of Erik ten Hag's successor Rúben Amorim's rebuilding project.

Luis Díaz - Liverpool to Bayern Munich (£65.5m)

Colombian international Luis Díaz left Liverpool after three-and-a-half seasons, joining Bayern Munich in a deal worth £65.5m including add-ons. Díaz won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup twice at Anfield.

Martin Zubimendi - Real Sociedad to Arsenal (£60.5m)
