HIGHFILL -- City employees are receiving additional year-end bonuses on top of extra pay approved last month.
The Highfill City Council approved at its November meeting year-end bonuses of $1,000 for full-time employees and department heads, $500 for part-time employees and $250 for the city's recorder/treasurer.
During that same meeting, Mayor Chris Holland said the city was ending the year with a surplus of $74,000.
Jack Loyd, a council member, suggested doubling the bonuses since there was a large surplus.

The year-end meeting was held Dec.
