After noticing that Subway recently added Doritos to the menu via Doritos Footlong Nachos -- a move Cheba Hut made over 20 years ago when it created "Not'chose" featuring Nacho Cheese Doritos -- the Arizona-based sandwich chain responded by recreating the offering using Cool Ranch flavor.
Cheba's nachos, $5.99, feature a plate of Cool Ranch Doritos topped with melted cheddar cheese, jalapeños, onions, black olives, hot sauce and a ranch drizzle. The original Nacho Cheese flavor is still available.
Subway launched its LTO in April with Doritos Nacho Cheese chips, cheddar cheese sauce, shredded Monterey cheddar cheese, jalapeno slices, diced tomatoes, red onions and Baja Chipotle sauce.
"Cool Ranch Not'chos are our way of flipping the script on a classic snack -- taking that nostalgic, throwback flavor and making it our own. We hit that craveability high note while staying true to what we have done for the last 27 years," Cheba Hut CRO Seth Larsen told FastCasual.
The launch builds on Cheba Hut's commitment to "bold, out-of-the-box flavor" and aims to appeal to snack lovers and those seeking "next-level munchie moments."
Cheba Hut also offers Kool-Aid and Dorito Not'chos as permanent menu items.
