Update at 10:54 a.m. Monday:
Decoven Stephens, 18, Urbana, has been arrested in connection with the early-morning shooting that left one victim seriously injured on Saturday, UI police reported Monday morning.
He is charged with attempted first-degree murder and is being arraigned today.
Immediately after the incident near Fifth and Green streets, officers and detectives from the Champaign Police Department and UIPD spoke with eyewitnesses and gathered video footage. The Illinois State Police helped gather evidence at the scene.
The investigation led UIPD to obtain warrants to arrest Stephens and search his home. Both were executed Monday morning with backup from the Metropolitan Emergency Tactical Response Operations Team and the Champaign County Street Crimes Task Force.
Multiple pieces of evidence were found, including a handgun that is suspected to have been involved in the shooting.
UIPD is grateful for the assistance provided by the police departments of Champaign and Urbana, the Champaign County Sheriff's Office, the county's state's attorney's office and community members who "provided critical information."

CHAMPAIGN -- A shooting in the University of Illinois Campustown left one man injured early Saturday morning, UI police say.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Green Street and Fifth Street at around 12:26 a.m. and discovered the victim suffering from gunshot wounds.
An Illini Alert mass text and social media notification at 12:29 a.m. reported the incident. It also asked that the public avoid the area.
At 1:08 a.m., another Illini Alert said the suspect was believed to have left the area.
Further alerts over the next few hours said officers remain on scene for further investigation and asked that the public continue to avoid the area.
UI police said officers flooded the search area, but a suspect has not been located.
The victim received treatment on-scene and was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is still receiving care.
The crime scene was processed by the UIPD Crime Scene Unit and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, and investigators obtained video footage from nearby establishments.
Witness statements suggest the shooting followed a verbal altercation between multiple people, police say.
The victim became involved in the dispute and was struck by gunfire.
None of the parties involved are believed to be affiliated with the UI.
UI police continue to investigate and will have additional security resources in the area following the event. However, police say this incident does not pose an ongoing threat to campus safety.
