Knicks linked to $10 million 76ers big man in potential key trade

The New York Knicks would love to make a crucial trade before the deadline, even if it's not a blockbuster.

New York doesn't have the cap situation for a colossal move, in the first place. But a tasteful acquisition to improve their offense or provide some frontcourt depth would greatly enhance the Knicks' chances in the playoffs.

As New York scans the market for a Karl-Anthony Towns backup, a veteran rebounding monster from the Philadelphia 76ers might catch their eye, according to Fadeaway World's Cholo Martin Magsino.

"Andre Drummond is also an inspired choice because he has been a superb backup center for a while," Magsino said.

"He was a rock-solid starting center before, but he continues to contribute this season. Drummond has started more games than expected, but he remains productive with averages of 7.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game."

"He would be a fantastic fit in the backup center role, especially since Karl-Anthony Towns can take a break, knowing that a good center is backing him up and playing well when he sits down."

Drummond is in year one of a two-year, $10 million deal.
