According to reports, monetary details have been released for new MSU AD J Batt

Reports have surfaced that Michigan State has zeroed in on its next Director of Athletics, tabbing Georgia Tech's Jason "J" Batt for the position.

Batt comes to Michigan State after serving as the athletic director for Georgia Tech, where he has served in that role since 2022. Prior to his time in Atlanta, Batt served as the deputy athletic director for Alabama from 2017-to-2022 and the associate athletic director at East Carolina from 2013-to-2017.

Batt's prowess for his successful hire of Brent Key at Georgia Tech, along with substantially raising the NIL pool at both Georgia Tech and Alabama.

Now, with the hire of Batt to MSU imminent, Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press has reported the monetary details of the move from Atlanta to East Lansing.

Batt will be receiving a $1.8 million base salary annually, while the Spartans will also be paying a $2 million buyout to Georgia Tech, getting him out of a 5-year contract that he had signed this past December. This base salary is a significant increase from the salary that MSU had been paying Alan Haller, which checked in at just under a million dollars.

The deal is going to be for six years, according to a report from Tony Paul of the Detroit News, announcing that the Board of Trustees have signed off on the move.
