"I did a lot of research on it," she told People about her decision. "I was like, 'Is this a shortcut? What are the benefits? What are not the benefits?' I really wanted to dive into it before I just did it. They were super supportive, and it was easy to get the medication. I lost over 31 pounds using my GLP-1, and I was really excited about that weight loss."

The revelation sparked commentary across the internet, for better or worse -- and now Jameela Jamil, who has often been outspoken regarding social trends in the past, has offered her own take.
"Serena Williams is selling GLP-1s," the actor wrote on her IG story. "The thing I feel most uncomfortable about here is that celebrities have access to doctors most others don't have access to. These 'miracle' weight loss drugs come at a price."

"The side effects can include paralysis of the gastric system, pancreatitis, cancer, hair loss, osteoporosis, severe malnutrition, muscle mass loss, depression (there have been reports of suicide), thyroid issues, and blindness. If for some reason you suddenly have to come off, many people gain the weight back and then some, fast. And it's much harder to then lose."
Here's what Cleveland Clinic has to say about GLP-1 side effects, just for sake of comparison against Jameela's claims.
"Nobody tells you these things in the media. You need blood tests, dexa scans, nutritionists, a dedicated weights regimen to maintain muscle mass and bone density. If things go wrong, you don't have a billion dollars to fix it, that's why I don't like celebrities pushing drugs with such drastic documented side effects."
