Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire is reportedly wanted by two Saudi Pro League clubs.
Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire is reportedly wanted by two Saudi Pro League clubs, although the Englishman will only consider a move at the end of the campaign.
Maguire's future was again the subject of speculation over the summer, with a number of clubs believed to have been in touch with the Red Devils to discuss his availability.
The 32-year-old only has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2026, although the club have the option to activate a further 12 months to take him until the end of the 2026-27 campaign.
Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim values Maguire's experience and character, and the England international has already made three appearances this season, scoring once.
However, he is not first choice in Man United's back three, with Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui all currently ahead of him in the pecking order.
Maguire 'wanted' by two Saudi Pro League clubs
Meanwhile, Maguire will drop further down the list once Lisandro Martinez returns from a knee injury.
According to The Sun, two Saudi clubs have expressed an interest in signing Maguire now, with their transfer window not due to close until September 23.
However, the report claims that the experienced defender has made it clear that he wants to see out the season at Old Trafford before making a decision on his future.
A switch to Saudi Arabia does allegedly appeal to Maguire, who would be free to discuss a pre-contract with foreign clubs in January, providing that his current deal is not extended.
How will Maguire be remembered at Man United?
Maguire made an £80m switch to Man United from Leicester City in August 2019, and he has represented the Red Devils on 249 occasions in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and registering eight assists.
The experienced defender captained the 20-time English champions between 2020 and 2023, and he has had plenty of excellent moments in a Man United shirt, but there have been big disappointments too.
His best season in the Red Devils jersey was his first, starring during the 2019-20 campaign.
Maguire has struggled to justify his £80m fee, so by that metric, he has underperformed at Old Trafford.
The Englishman has still had an excellent career in the game, though, and he could now be set for a lucrative end to his time in football, with a substantial salary likely to be waiting for him in Saudi Arabia.
