The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) is urging residents to get the newly updated COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine is approved for individuals aged six months and older and offers protection against the latest Omicron subvariants circulating this fall.
Vaccinations can be booked through healthcare providers, local pharmacies, or the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine or 1-833-943-3900.
The EOHU is also providing appointments for children under five and for individuals with medical conditions who cannot access vaccines through other means.
"As COVID-19 is now one of the normally circulating viruses in the community, I encourage everyone to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine as it will help prevent infections and protect against severe illness," said Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, Medical Officer of Health at the EOHU.
The updated vaccine is recommended for all, regardless of previous vaccination status, to help safeguard community health this respiratory illness season.
