Police blotter: Welfare check turns into jail time

On Tuesday morning, police received a request for a welfare check on Harold J. Felton, 51, of Butte.

Felton was found during a traffic stop near the intersection of Atlantic and Front streets. Turns out, all was good with Felton, except for the fact that a warrant had already been issued for his arrest for contempt. So, he went to jail.

Wednesday booking

Melinda K. Hollow, 46, of Butte was booked into the Butte Detention Center at around 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday

Hollow had warrants out of Lewis & Clark County for forgery and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

Early afternoon

While on patrol on Greenwood Avenue early Tuesday afternoon, an officer saw three suspicious vehicles parked in an empty lot and investigated.

Allen D. James, 57, of Butte identified himself to the officer, who learned that multiple warrants had been issued for James' arrest out of Anaconda, Butte and Bozeman.

James also reportedly had suspected methamphetamine in his possession and was also taken into custody for criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

Argument escalates

At about 10:40 p.m. on Monday, police arrested Andrew L. Campbell, 23, of Butte for partner or family member assault (causing reasonable apprehension of bodily injury) and resisting arrest.

According to a police report, Campbell was having an argument with a woman at a residence on the 600 block of West Granite Street, and during the argument he allegedly restricted her movement and grabbed a fanny pack with a firearm inside. The woman feared for her safety and called 911.

When officers arrived, Campbell reportedly at first resisted being handcuffed, but eventually complied.

Morning arrest

On Monday morning, an officer saw Taneal M. Holloway, 46, of Butte standing outside the Town Pump, 531 S. Montana St. The officer knew a no-bond warrant had been issued for Holloway's arrest and she was placed in custody.

In custody

Adult Probation and Parole took Samantha M. Ford, 35, of Butte into custody on Sunday afternoon for criminal possession of drug paraphernalia and for a parole violation.

Out on patrol

An officer patrolling on Sunday morning saw Ashley L. Phillips, 40, of Butte walking on the 2000 block of Silver Bow Boulevard.

Phillips had a warrant for violating her release conditions and a warrant from the Montana Highway Patrol. She was taken into custody.

Argument leads to jail

Just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, a woman drove to the Butte Detention Center to report an escalating argument with Aaron H. Abraham, 21, of Butte, who was a passenger in her car.

Following an investigation, Abraham was arrested for partner or family member assault (causing reasonable apprehension of bodily injury).

Highway assault

At about 7:15 p.m. on Friday, a trooper with the Montana Highway Patrol arrested Troy L. Froehlich, 63, of Tucson, Arizona for partner or family member assault (causing reasonable apprehension of bodily injury).

The arrest was made at mile marker 214 on Interstate 90 near Butte.

Probation violation

Thomas C. Fisher, 49, of Butte was picked up at 12:30 p.m. Friday by Adult Probation & Parole. He was jailed for a probation violation.

Midnight dispute

Late Thursday night, Kirk M. Meyer, 57, of Butte was arguing with a woman at the Lincoln Hotel, 207 W. Park St., and allegedly kicked her to get off the bed.

Meyer was arrested for his third offense of partner or family member assault (causing reasonable apprehension of bodily injury) and probation violation. An arrest warrant from the Montana Highway Patrol had already been issued.

Failed attempt

Just before 1 p.m. on Aug. 28, Connor J. White, 28, of Butte was taken into custody for theft (third offense).

White reportedly attempted to steal a pair of shoes at Walmart but failed. When police arrived, he gave a false name, so was also jailed for obstructing a peace officer. He also had two outstanding warrants.

Lock me up

Ronnie D. Pease Jr., 46, of Butte turned himself into police just after 4 a.m. on Aug. 28. He was booked into jail for parole violation and an outside warrant.

Long gone

At 5:40 a.m. on Aug. 29, a man was seen trying to enter a home on the 800 block of Caledonia Street. He failed to get in and was gone when police arrived.

Theft of ATV

A German Gulch Road man called police at around 6:45 a.m. on Aug. 29 after discovering his 2024 Yamaha Wolverine side-by-side, which had been parked atop a trailer, had been stolen, along with the battery charger and a 50-quart cooler. The trailer was left behind.

Windows broken

-- It was discovered at 8 a.m. on Aug. 29 that a rock had been thrown through a window at a business on the 100 block of South Arizona Street.

-- Just after 8 a.m. on Aug. 29, shattered windows were reported at the corporate offices of Community, Counseling, and Correctional Services on the 400 block of West Mercury Street.

-- Friday afternoon, a truck parked on the 1400 block of Dewey Boulevard had its windows broken with a BB gun.

-- Saturday afternoon, a green Dodge Caravan parked on St. Paul Avenue had its back window broken with a rock.

Ringing doorbells

Late Tuesday morning, juveniles were ringing doorbells and then taking off on the 2900 block of Wharton Street.
