Liverpool's final Premier League position has been predicted as the first international break of the season gets underway. The Reds have achieved three wins from three matches and are the only club to have nine points on the board going into the first hiatus of the campaign.
Arne Slot's side went into the international break on the back of a 1-0 win over expected title rivals Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday. Dominik Szoboszlai scored the only goal of the game with a long-range free-kick to secure the three points for Liverpool.
The Reds will now look ahead to their return to top-flight action after the international break, where they will take on Burnley on September 14. That will be followed by the start of the new Champions League season, which will begin with a home opener against Atletico Madrid.
Even though only three matches have been played, it's enough for Opta Analyst to make a prediction for how the final table will look. They have crunched the numbers and believe that Liverpool will retain their Premier League crown.
The prediction believes that Liverpool will finish with 79 points (79.02) after 38 matches have been completed. This is enough to win the title ahead of Arsenal in second, who are predicted to finish with 73 points (73.11) this term.
Chelsea are then tipped to finish third on 67 (66.86) points, while Manchester City (64.3) are fourth, and Crystal Palace are predicted to finish fifth on 61 (60.56) and potentially qualify for the Champions League. At the other end of the table, Sunderland, Burnley and Wolves are the clubs tipped to be relegated to the Championship.
The prediction comes after the summer transfer window officially closed on Monday night. Liverpool signed Alexander Isak on deadline day but missed out on a deal to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
