Littler dumped out of European Championship as James Wade rolls back the years

Luke Littler has been dumped out of the European Darts Championship.

Littler, 18, has made no secret about his distaste about playing Germany, and the crowd were on his back from the opening visit and he searched desperately for any sort of rhythm.

James Wade took an early break, but still found himself behind heading into the first break. However, The Machine started to click into gear - and take leg after leg.

Littler started to dig deep, coming within two darts of a nine - taking out the leg in 11. And The Nuke was able to peg himself back.

However, Wade showed his experience, he was keeping Littler at an arms length with superb board management.

The Machine was living up to his nickname, and proving lethal on the outer ring.

Littler and Wade were neck and neck heading into the final legs, but some brilliance from the Machine saw him within one leg of the quarter-finals.

The Nuke was breathing down his neck, but Wade took out a superb 108 on double 14 to advance to the next round and dump out the favourite.

Littler will be back for the European Championship, as he looks to tick off every possible trophy on his darting palmares.

But it's one that will remain out of reach for at least another year.
