May 8, 1952 -- December 8, 2024
Edward S. Urbanik died suddenly on Dec 8, 2024.
He was born May 8, 1952, at Travis AFB, California, to Frank and Charlotte Urbanik.
Ed's childhood was an adventure. As part of an Air Force family, there were frequent moves from California to Maine to Texas to Spain and, finally, back to California. Ed was a graduate of Armijo High School and Sacramento State College. He enjoyed sports and played football at both schools. He spent many years playing in the Fairfield Softball League. Another hobby was amateur radio (HAM). He achieved the level of "Amateur Extra Class" with the call sign of N6YM, now a "silent key."
Ed was employed at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, first completing an apprenticeship as a marine machinist and then as a marine electrician.
His brilliant mind was always working overtime and he loved to share his thoughts on most any subject. He sometimes had a gruff exterior but inside was a heart of gold!
Ed will be greatly missed by his loving siblings, John (Gail), Ann (Ken) and Frank (Judi); and his beloved nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents.
There was a private family service. In Ed's memory, do something nice for someone.
