WASHINGTON (7News) -- A car ran into a gas pump in Washington's Northwest area, sparking a fire and an emergency shutoff late Saturday morning.
The call came in around 11:44 a.m. and roughly 10 units were dispatched to the 5500 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.

When crews arrived, they found a car that had crashed into a pump and was on fire. Staff at the gas station had activated the emergency shutoff, which prevented more fuel from being involved, fire officials said.
The driver of the car escaped without any injuries. Firefighters quickly put the blaze out and searched the vehicle, confirming no other individuals were inside.

D.C. Fire and EMS officials said there was no structural damage, but the hazmat unit responded to handle fuel runoff. The incident was declared under control, and no other injuries were reported.
