Inter Miami sends USMNT's Benjamin Cremaschi on loan to Italian club Parma

Another top U.S. men's national team prospect is headed overseas.

Inter Miami on Tuesday confirmed it loaned midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi to Serie A side Parma for one year.

Parma, one of the historic clubs in Italy, will have an option to buy the 20-year-old American after the loan for a reported 4.5 million euros. It is not a mandatory clause.

Born in the U.S. to Argentine parents, Cremaschi became Miami's fifth academy product to sign for the first team in November 2022.

He went on to become the first Academy product to reach the 100 appearances milestone along with eight goals and seven assists, becoming a key squad player alongside Lionel Messi and Co.

Cremaschi has captained the U.S. U-20 side and won three caps for the senior team since debuting in September 2023. He was also part of the nation's Paris Olympics squad.

Parma, which suffered a three-year spell in Italy's second division from 2021 to 2024, recently rebounded and has rebuilt a young roster.

On top of that, the club poached Arsenal assistant coach Carlos Cuesta earlier this summer to become the team's manager. The 29-year-old is now the youngest manager in the division.

Cremaschi has been deployed in various midfield roles, but will need to nail one down for his development. If he can polish his game as either a box-to-box option or an attacking midfielder with key goal threat, he could prove useful to the senior U.S. team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Fellow U.S. midfielders Gio Reyna and Brendan Aaronson are recent examples of youngsters who have yet to find their groove in a position, stunting their growth. Reyna was also wanted by Parma, but he opted to stay in Germany with Monchengladbach.
