Apple Unveils MacBook Pro 14-Inch With M5 Chip, 24-Hour Battery, And On-Device AI Power

Apple has officially unveiled the MacBook Pro 14-inch (2025) lineup, powered by its latest M5 chipset, marking a major step forward in AI-driven computing. The new model promises faster performance, better energy efficiency, and a redesigned experience built around macOS Tahoe and Apple's next-generation Liquid Retina XDR display.

Stunning Liquid Retina XDR Display

The new MacBook Pro 14-inch features a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with a resolution of 3024×1964 pixels and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports 1,600 nits of peak brightness and 1,000 nits of sustained full-screen brightness, offering exceptional colour accuracy for creatives and professionals. Whether for video editing, graphic design, or streaming, the screen remains one of the best in the industry.

M5 Chip: AI-Powered Performance

At the heart of the device lies Apple's all-new M5 chip, featuring 4 performance cores, 6 efficiency cores, and a 10-core GPU paired with a 16-core Neural Engine. The M5 introduces a Neural Accelerator in each core, enabling up to 3.5x faster AI performance compared to the M4 and 6x faster performance than the original M1.

Apple is highlighting the MacBook Pro M5 as a laptop built for AI workflows, with the ability to run large language models (LLMs) directly on-device, a significant step for developers and researchers working in machine learning and data science.

The laptop supports 16GB or 24GB of unified memory, with 512GB or 1TB SSD storage options, providing flexibility for both everyday users and professionals.

Enhanced Multimedia and Software Experience

The new MacBook Pro also features a 12MP Center Stage camera designed for clearer video calls and virtual meetings. Complementing the visuals is a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio support, delivering an immersive multimedia experience.

Running on macOS Tahoe, the laptop introduces the Apple Intelligence suite and the new Liquid Glass design language, creating a refined and intuitive user interface.

Battery Life and Pricing

Apple claims the MacBook Pro 14-inch can last up to 24 hours on a single charge, a notable improvement over the previous 22-hour battery on the M4 model.

The MacBook Pro 14-inch (M5) starts at Rs 1,69,900 for the 16GB/512GB model, Rs 1,89,900 for the 16GB/1TB version, and Rs 2,09,900 for the 24GB/1TB configuration. It comes in Space Black and Silver and will be available for pre-order starting October 22 via Apple's website, Apple Stores, and authorized resellers across India.
