Earlier this year, it was revealed that a movie based on the fan-favorite NBC crime drama, which ran from 1984-1990, was in the works at Universal Pictures with F1 and Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski directing the project.
No official deals have been given out yet, but the sources say Michael is reportedly is "engaging and interested" in starring in the movie.
Written by Eric Warren Singer and Dan Gilroy, the Miami Vice movie "will explore the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami, inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the NBC television series that ran from 1984-1089 and influenced the culture from fashion to filmmaking."
Scheduling is still being figured out, but production is hoping to begin filming later in 2026.
