Man sentenced in connection with fatal shooting of mother in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio (WXIX) -A man has been sentenced in connection with the fatal shooting of his mother in Wilmington, according to Wilmington police.

Officers say Kyler Whitt, 33, has been sentenced to at least 19 and a half years in prison.

He was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter, unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance, receiving stolen property, and tampering with evidence, police said.

The convictions stem from the incident that occurred in the 1100 block of Brownberry Drive on April 15.

Police say that when they, along with emergency personnel, arrived at the scene, they found that Whitt had fatally shot his mother, 55-year-old Kelley Blazer.

After his sentencing, he was taken into custody by the Clinton County Sheriff's Office for transfer to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
