KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded over 92% early voter turnout across the state on Tuesday (Nov 25).
The early polls, held from 8am to 5pm, saw over 19,000 voters comprising police personnel, armed forces and general operations force (GOF) personnel as well as their spouses.
Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said that of this number, 8,347 were armed forces and their spouses, while 10,696 were the police, GOF and their spouses.
"The EC thanks and congratulates all election officials and the team for carrying out their duties excellently today," he said in a statement.
The EC also expressed its appreciation and thanks to all others who had directly or indirectly contributed their support and cooperation.
Earlier today, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the election was conducted smoothly despite bad weather.
