When Wes isn't competing in strongman events he works as a bus driver

WESLEY DERWINSKY is one of the leading strongmen in the world.

Standing at 6ft 3in (1.91 m) and weighing approximately 311 pounds (141 kg), he has made significant strides in the world of strongman events since he began competing in 2017.

His journey in strength sports has been marked by a series of impressive performances and notable achievements.

After finishing second in Canada's Strongest Man 2021, Wes told Thorold Today: "It felt good to come second but only for a moment.

Wes' strongman career includes participation in various prestigious competitions, including the World's Strongest Man (WSM).

As of December 2024, he has competed in the WSM three times, achieving his best placement of 6th place in both the 2023 and 2024 competitions.

His consistent performance at this elite level showcases his dedication and skill in the sport.

Wes has also competed in other significant events.

He secured a second-place finish at the 2023 Shaw Classic, further establishing himself as a formidable competitor.

His accomplishments include multiple podium finishes at Canada's Strongest Man competitions, where he has consistently demonstrated his strength across various events.

Speaking about making it as a strongman, Wes said: "Everyone has got a dream, but you have to break it up in steps in order to get there."

Wes' training regimen and competitive spirit are evident in his performance metrics.

He holds personal records including a maximum deadlift of 875 lbs (397 kg) and a log lift of 193 kg 425 lbs (193 kg), showcasing his exceptional strength capabilities.

Beyond his competitive achievements, Derwinsky is also recognized for his engaging personality within the strongman community.

He actively shares insights into his training and experiences through social media platforms, where he connects with fans and fellow athletes.

As of December 19, 2024, he has over 6,000 followers on Instagram.

When he's not training or competing, Wes drives a bus around St Catherines, Niagara.

Speaking of his profession, he said: "It's a good job, and it's not too heavy on the body."
