Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan revealed his surprisingly simple diet, favoring two meals a day consisting of sprouts, grilled chicken, and dal, eschewing fancy dishes. This disciplined approach, a personal choice rather than a fad, extends to his late-night work and workout routine, showcasing a grounded lifestyle beyond his superstar status.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan may be one of the most recognizable faces in the world, but when it comes to food, the actor keeps things surprisingly basic. In an old interview with RJ Devanggana, now going viral online, the King of Bollywood revealed that his diet is built on simplicity and discipline, not celebrity-style indulgence.
Shah Rukh explained that his eating habits have remained unchanged for years. "I naturally prefer very simple food. I eat two meals a day: lunch and dinner. I eat nothing apart from these two meals. Mujhe pakwan pasand nahi (I don't like fancy foods). I eat sprouts, grilled chicken, broccoli, sometimes a little bit of dal. This is all I have been eating repeatedly on a daily basis for several years," he said.

The actor clarified that his meal choices are not part of any diet trend or health fad. "I don't diet. It's just my personal choice to eat light and clean," he said, stressing that his routine is driven more by discipline than diet rules.
Despite being one of Bollywood's busiest stars, SRK follows a steady routine around his late-night shoots and workouts. He said that the decision to keep his meals simple was not about intermittent fasting or new-age food trends. "It was just how I preferred to live," he noted.
Interestingly, the Pathaan actor admitted that he's flexible when it comes to social occasions. "If I am travelling, in a plane, or visiting friends and family for dinner or lunch, I eat everything they have to offer -- be it biryani, roti, paratha, ghee, lassi. I eat anything that they offer," he shared.
The superstar also gave a glimpse into his nocturnal lifestyle. "I go to sleep at five in the morning. When Mark Wahlberg gets up, I go off to sleep. And then I wake up about nine or ten if I am shooting. But then I will come home at two a.m., take a bath and then work out before I go to sleep," he said.

This strict routine, he added, helps him stay consistent even during hectic film schedules -- a blend of late nights, fitness, and focused self-discipline.
In a separate interview with The Guardian, Shah Rukh recalled how he reinvented his fitness routine during the COVID-19 lockdown. "At the age of 55, I took a kind of sabbatical. During the pandemic there was nothing else to do, and I was telling everyone -- learn Italian cooking and work out. I was working out. I built a body," he revealed.
For all his fame and global following, Shah Rukh Khan's daily habits reflect his grounded personality. Whether it's sticking to sprouts and dal or pulling an all-nighter before a workout, the actor's lifestyle shows that discipline, not extravagance, defines the man behind the megastar.
