Pittsburgh Steelers fans will see a slew of Acrisure Stadium upgrades, new food options and technology improvements ahead of the upcoming NFL season.
The enhancements come before Pittsburgh hosts the 2026 NFL Draft in April. The weekend-long event is expected to bring hundreds of thousands of football fans to the city's North Shore and Downtown areas.
A 2026 NFL Draft mobile exhibit will be displayed on Art Rooney Avenue on Steelers game days this season. The exhibit will showcase the city's football legacy. When it's not being displayed on game days, it will be open throughout the 2025 season in the FedEx Great Hall.
Acrisure Stadium officials on Tuesday said a new synthetic field has been completed outside of the North Shore venue. The 44-by-25-yard field will be used for the NFL Draft and other programming through the Steelers and University of Pittsburgh.
A new video board has been installed on the east side of the stadium along Art Rooney Avenue. It will show the score during the game and be part of NFL Draft presentations, officials said.
Acrisure's Tuesday announcement touted the NFL Draft Countdown Clock that was installed in May on the North Shore Great Lawn to provide a to-the-second countdown to the league's marquee offseason event.
Terrible Towel exhibit
Fans can also expect increased cooking capacity at Acrisure Stadium's most popular concession stands.
New concessions featuring upscale nachos were added to the upper east sections 506 and 516 and upper west sections 529 and 534.
A pair of Steel City Markets added to the UPMC Club and West Club will offer hot dogs, nachos, soft pretzels, beer, soda and water through self-checkout. New Pick 6 Sammies in the same clubs will sell chef-crafted sandwiches through a self-order kiosk.
In the Steelers Hall of Honor Museum, a changing exhibition will feature the 20th anniversary of the Steelers 2006 Super Bowl XL victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The showcase will run through next summer.
To commemorate the Terrible Towel's 50th anniversary, a Terrible Towel wall in the FedEx Great Hall will display a 400-square-foot Terrible Towel and information on the symbol's history, dating back to its creation by Myron Cope, a well-known Steelers broadcaster.
A new Terrible Towel kiosk will be set up inside Gate C, or Heinz Gate, for the anniversary year.
The Steelers Pro Shop this season will sell several exclusive gear collections, including 2026 NFL Draft merchandise, the Ireland Collection and 1933 Legacy Collection.
Upgraded tech
Various technological improvements are also in place for this year's football season. An upgraded Wi-Fi system will provide better coverage and faster internet speeds, officials said Monday. A new charging station was added near section 527, and other charging stations throughout the venue were upgraded.
The Steelers mobile app's Acrisure Stadium Mode got a facelift, including a stadium virtual assistant that can help fans with team- or stadium-related questions. Attendees can use the app to reserve parking, report safety issues or order food from concession stands. The app also will include a lost and found tool.
Acrisure officials also highlighted an upgraded graphics package to improve scoreboard shows, a new team entry video that will play before players are introduced and updates to the replay and audio systems.
Other popular programs that are returning this year include Steelers Student Rush to allow college students to snag affordable tickets.
There will also be commemorative tickets, stadium tours, 10 commemorative posters crafted in collaboration with Commonwealth Press and a historic Three Rivers Stadium Display on the West Main Concourse featuring lockers used at Three Rivers Stadium by Hall of Famers Joe Greene, Franco Harris and Bill Dudley.
