A rock band is back on tour for the first time in 12 years.

Fountains of Wayne performed at the Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton, Florida, on Saturday. The concert, featuring Weezer, celebrated Boca Raton's centennial.

It was the first time Fountains of Wayne had performed publicly since bassist-singer and acclaimed songwriter Adam Schlesinger died of Covid complications in 2020. It was also the power-pop group's first full concert since 2013, according to Rolling Stone.

The reunited Fountains of Wayne played an hour-long set featuring songs like "Hackensack," "I've Got a Flair" and "Stacy's Mom." Eve 6's Max Collins filled in for Schlesinger on bass alongside the surviving lineup of singer Chris Collingwood, guitarist Jody Porter, drummer Brian Young.

The reunion show is part of a mini tour that includes upcoming appearances at the Nano-Mugen Festival in Japan on May 31, Summerfest in Milwaukee on July 4, and Oceans Calling in Oceans City, Maryland, on Sept. 26.

Schlesinger, a founding member of Fountains of Wayne and Ivy, died in April 2020 from complications due to Covid. He played bass and contributed vocals in Fountains of Wayne, but was also well-known as a songwriter behind tunes like the Grammy-nominated "Stacy's Mom" and the Oscar-nominated song "That Thing You Do!" (from Tom Hanks' movie of the same name).

Schlesinger, a cousin of "The Walking Dead" actor Jon Bernthal and the grandson of Syracuse musician and Famous Artists Broadway Theater Series producer Murray Bernthal, won a Grammy Award and three Emmys for his work on TV shows like "Sesame Street," "A Colbert Christmas" and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend"; and was nominated for two Tony Awards for the "Cry-Baby" musical in 2008. Schlesinger's credits also include music for the 2007 Hugh Grant movie "Music and Lyrics," the 2001 movie "Josie and the Pussycats," and the theme song for Kathy Griffin's 2012-2013 talk show "Kathy."

Fountains of Wayne played a virtual concert during the pandemic to pay tribute to Schlesinger in 2020 and help raise money for a New Jersey pandemic relief fund. Sharon Van Etten filled in during the livestream, while Collins is taking Schlesinger's place on tour.

Collins is best known as the singer, bassist and primary songwriter for Eve 6, the alternative rock band behind hits "Promise," "Here's to the Night," and "Inside Out." His music projects also include Marms + The Car Deaths, Fitness, and Chevy Mustang.
