Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A17 5G in the Indian market. The new budget-friendly smartphone succeeds last year's Galaxy A16 5G. It brings several key upgrades in design, camera, and software support.
The launch follows recent releases in regions like Ireland and the UK. The Indian pricing is highly competitive for the feature set.
The Galaxy A17 5G is available in three memory variants. The base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage costs INR 18,999.
An 8GB RAM version with 128GB storage is priced at INR 20,499. The top-tier model offers 8GB RAM and 256GB storage for INR 23,499.
According to Reuters, the Indian smartphone market is fiercely competitive. Samsung's strategy targets the vital mid-range segment directly. The phone is available in Black, Blue, and Grey color options.
Consumers can purchase it from Amazon India, Flipkart, and Samsung's official online store. HDFC Bank and SBI credit card users get an instant INR 1,000 discount.
The most notable surprise is the inclusion of a 25W charger inside the box. Samsung had previously removed chargers from most of its new smartphone boxes.
This move is seen as a major consumer-friendly decision for the budget segment. It eliminates an additional purchase for new buyers.
The phone features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is protected by durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The device also carries an IP54 rating for dust and water splash resistance.
Photography is handled by a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). It is joined by a 5MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro sensor. The front features a 13MP selfie camera.
Powering the device is Samsung's own Exynos 1330 processor. It is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of expandable storage. A large 5,000mAh battery supports 25W wired charging.
The software commitment is impressive. It runs Android 15 with One UI 7.0 out of the box. Samsung promises six major Android OS updates and six years of security patches.
