A Walnut Cove man was arrested Tuesday and charged with firing into unoccupied car in the parking lot of Walmart in King on Monday, authorities said.
Investigators later found explosive devices and materials at the man's home, King police said.
Larry Keaton Brown, 72, is charged with damage to personal property and discharging a firearm in the city limits, police said.
The Stokes County Sheriff's Office also charged Brown with two counts of resisting arrest and one count of possession of weapons of mass destruction, police said.
Investigators executed a search warrant Tuesday at Brown's home at 1040 Neal Road in Walnut Cove after the incident at the Walmart, police said.
Detectives found explosive devices and materials, police said. Residents nearby were evacuated temporarily until the area was deemed safe.
The Winston-Salem Police Department's hazardous devices unit disposed of the explosive devices, King police said.
Brown is being held in the Stokes County Jail with his bond set at $110,000, police said.
