A leading structural steel firm has opened its doors to students in a bid to inspire the next generation.

Severfield, headquartered in York, welcomed three Year 10 students from Thirsk School & Sixth Form College to its Dalton facility for a four-day work experience placement over the summer holidays.

The placement offered students a first-hand look at the world of structural steel and the variety of career paths available in the industry.

Abel Neish, senior early careers advisor at Severfield, said: "It was fantastic to see the students grow in confidence over the course of the week and hear how much they took away from the experience.

"In addition to practical skills like CV writing and career guidance, we believe it's crucial to engage with the next generation of talent.

"This initiative not only nurtures their potential but also helps us foster a future pipeline of skilled individuals.
