Rio hosts religious leaders from BRICS countries

São Paulo - Religious leaders and those interested in Islamic culture from BRICS member countries will gather on Thursday (4) and Friday (5) at the Grand Hyatt Rio hotel in Rio de Janeiro for debates, reflections, and an international Quran recitation contest. The information was released by the Federation of Muslim Associations in Brazil (FAMBRAS), which supports the event.

Organized by the Religious Council of Muslims of the Russian Federation and supported by the Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities of the United Arab Emirates, the event aims to strengthen ties among religious authorities of BRICS countries and highlight Islam's contribution to peace, spirituality, and global coexistence.

On Thursday (4), the "Meeting of Islamic Religious Leaders of BRICS Countries" and the "6 Spiritual Conference of the Silk Road: The Role of Moral Values in Bringing Peoples and Continents Closer" will take place, the latter bringing together authorities from all religions, according to FAMBRAS.

The "2 BRICS Noble Quran Award" is scheduled for Friday (5), featuring renowned reciters in a celebration of the beauty, spirituality, and tradition of reciting the Muslims' holy book. Participants recite passages from the Quran, aiming for excellence in memorization, correct pronunciation, and intonation, as in similar contests held worldwide.
