Pedestrian who was struck by North Canton city vehicle dies

NORTH CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - The City of North Canton confirmed that a pedestrian who was struck on April 29 by a city-owned service vehicle has died.

The city said they were heartbroken to learn the person tragically passed away over the weekend, and their thoughts are with the pedestrian's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

Police said around 9:46 A.M, they responded to a vehicle-pedestrian traffic accident at the intersection of 7th Street NE and North Main Street.

Emergency responders arrived and took the person to a local hospital before being transferred to another facility for further treatment.

The investigation indicated that a city vehicle was heading West on 7th Street NE and turned left to head south onto North Main Street when the pedestrian collision occurred.

The Canton Regional Crash Team, a specialized unit with extensive experience in investigating serious traffic incidents, is conducting a thorough review of all circumstances surrounding the accident.
