Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Tulsa King season 3, episode 6.The cast of Tulsa King season 3 had a few notable actors leave, and I can't believe how they dealt with their characters' absence. Most of the cast of Tulsa King has been there since the beginning. Dwight's crew hasn't changed much over the years, though he did gain two new recurring villains in Bill Bevilaqua and Cal Thresher, and Jimmy the Creek did die at the end of Tulsa King season 2.
As a result of the low turnover rate of character, Tulsa King hasn't had to find ways to explain their absences. That is, until Tulsa King season 3, as there are two prominent people in Dwight's life who aren't around anymore. Unfortunately, the show hasn't handled their departures well, and I really can't understand the way they're treating Armand and Tina.
Tulsa King Season 3 Is Done With Armand & Tina Manfredi
After Tulsa King season 3, episode 6, it's clear that neither Armand nor Tina are going to be in the show anymore. As Goodie confirmed, Armand had died by suicide after hanging himself in a "flophouse." As you'll remember, everyone was looking for Armand since he tried to rob the Bred2Buck in season 2 and ostensibly went to visit his family out of state this season.
Tina's fate is less certain, but it's still clear that she won't be in the show. Tina and Dwight had a falling out in Tulsa King season 2 that ended in her deciding to return to New York. That, coupled with the fact that Dwight has already visited New York and met with her sons but not her, means that Tina probably isn't going to have an effect on the show anymore.
Interestingly enough, it seems that Tyson has taken both Armand and Tina's roles in Tulsa King season 3. Tyson has long acted as a child to Dwight, but season 3 has turned that up even further as he asks for advice on how to be a man. He's also acting as the screw-up of the gang who Dwight has to reel in as he tries and fails to be proactive in the fight against Jeremiah Dunmire.
Max Casella & Tatiana Zappardino Deserved More Than Their Tulsa King Endings
So, it's clear that Tina and Armand have made an early departure from Tulsa King, but the way the show has handled those departures leaves a lot to be desired. Both Tina and Armand were huge parts of Tulsa King and Dwight's life, and they deserved a more fitting sendoff. Instead, they were both basically ignored and explained away.
While Max Casella will not return to Tulsa King, as Armand is dead, Tatiana Zappardino could still appear in future seasons of the show.
Tina, after having a huge emotional blow out with her father, simply faded from the show. There wasn't even a mention of her in Tulsa King season 3; Dwight just has her kids for an episode, and then she goes forgotten. Tulsa King should have done something with Tatiana Zappardino to explain her absence or at least give her story some closure. It was one of our biggest questions for Tulsa King season 3, after all.
Armand is in an even worse situation. We actually heard about him, but everything we heard only sullied the character's reputation. For several weeks, Armand was painted as a rat who sold out the gang, and then it's revealed that he hanged himself off-screen. They tossed Max Casella's character aside like he wasn't a hugely important character from the last two seasons of Tulsa King.
