My Hero Academia: The 10 Best Support Items

My Hero Academia: The Wasted Potential of the Meta Liberation Army

Summary

Support items greatly enhance heroes' performances in My Hero Academia beyond their quirks. Different heroes require different support items based on their quirks and weaknesses. From Auto Balancers to Deku's Armor, these support items play a crucial role in maximizing heroes' potential.

When talking about the heroes in My Hero Academia, most people think about the Quirks. After all, superpowers are usually the first thing associated with superheroes. However, another factor greatly supports and even enhances a hero's performance beyond just their quirk. They are called Support Items.

Different heroes require different support items. Some use these items to help them control their Quirks, while others use them to generate even more firepower. With that in mind, here are the best support items in My Hero Academia, ranked based on how powerful and useful they are to the wielders. Keep in mind that this list is subjective, so feel free to disagree or share some personal favorites.

10 Auto Balancers

More Downforce For The Speedster

User: Tenya Ida Creator: Mei Hatsume First Appearance: Episode 21

As an aspiring hero, Ida hasn't been able to fully control his Quirk yet. This is especially true at high speed. Once he reaches a certain speed, Ida will lose his stability, which often leads to a crash. To mitigate this situation, at least until his body gets used to the speed, Mei Hatsume from U.A.'s Development Studio created the Auto Balancers.

This support item consists of two parts. The first is knee braces to help Ida move his legs easily. The second is a small wing at his back that acts as a stabilizer and adds more downforce to keep him glued to the ground, sort of like the spoiler on a race car. This support item allows Ida to maximize the potential of his Quirk, which in turn greatly improves his performance as a hero.

9 Artificial Vocal Cords

A Voice Changer For The Brainwasher

User: Hitoshi Shinso Creator: U.A.'s Development Studio First Appearance: Episode 91

Hitoshi Shinso's Quirk allows him to brainwash anybody who responds to his voice. The biggest weakness of this Quirk is the fact that, once somebody has experienced Shinso's brainwashing and knows how it works, they won't respond to Shinso's voice ever again, thus rendering his Quirk useless.

To work around this limitation, the UA's Development Studio created the Artificial Vocal Cords. This support item enables Shinso to change his voice to mimic other people's voices. Thanks to this, it becomes harder for his target to avoid responding to his voice.

8 Sharpshooting Gear

A Device To Control And Channel Electricity

User: Denki Kaminari Creator: Mei Hatsume and Power Loader First Appearance: Episode 56

Denki Kaminari actually has one of the most potent and versatile Quirks in his class. After all, his electricity is effective whether it is used for a single opponent or multiple opponents. It is useful for close-range combat and can be used for medium to long-range combat as well.

Unfortunately for Kaminari, he can't control his Quirk at all. All he can do is turn it on and off. That's where Mei Hatsume and Power Loader come in with their invention, the Sharpshooting Gear. By channeling his electricity through this device, Kaminari can finally control the direction and intensity of his electricity. Thanks to the Sharpshooting Gear, he can now pinpoint his electric charge at a single target.

7 Strafe Panzer

Retractable Machine Guns With Explosive Bullets

User: Katsuki Bakugo Creator: Unknown Support Company First Appearance: Episode 148

Even though Bakugo already has his iconic Grenadier Bracers that store his nitroglycerin-like sweat and fire it in the form of powerful blasts, that is still not enough for him. He needs more power. More explosions. Specifically, something that can help him scatter his explosions over a wide area.

The company that designed his Grenadier Bracers responded to Bakugo's unique request with the Strafe Panzer. It is a bulky, retractable gun on his back that can fire his explosive sweat as high-speed bullets that can indeed cover a wide area. Think of it like Bakugo's version of Warmachine's machine guns from the Iron Man movies. This support item greatly enhances the versatility of Bakugo's Quirk.

6 Capturing Weapon

The Perfect Weapon For Aizawa And Shinso

User: Shota Aizawa and Hitoshi Shinso Creator: Unknown Support Company First Appearance: Episode 5

Capturing Weapon is the supporting item and the main weapon for Shota Aizawa and Hitoshi Shinso, respectively. This support item is made out of elastic, flexible, and ultra-durable cloth that can bind even the strongest opponents.

These binding clothes may not be as powerful or as destructive as the other support items on this list, but they are extremely crucial for Aizawa and Shinso. After all, their Quirks alone are not enough to defeat an enemy. Aizawa can temporarily erase his opponent's Quirk, and Shinso can brainwash his opponent, but neither of them has the means to physically overpower their opponent. Thanks to the Capturing Weapon, however, they can restrain and take down their opponents with ease.

5 Curious Flattener

A Compact And Transformable Weapon

User: Chitose Kizuki Creator: Detnerat First Appearance: Episode 109

Curious Flattener is a portable weapon used by Chitose Kizuki, one of the officers of the Meta Liberation Army. Designed by Detnerat, this support item comes in the form of a wristband that transforms into a box-like gun that can shoot a powerful blast. Detnerat may be an evil company, but it's important to give credit where credit is due.

Detnerat, as a company, designs and manufactures support items for both heroes and civilians. That's why they prioritize tools that are compact and easy to handle. This is where the true brilliance of the Curious Flattener comes through. It's not about the destructive power; it's about the fact that this compact weapon comes in the form of a bracelet. This means there's no need for its user to carry bulky items like Bakugo's Strafe Panzer or Kaminari's Sharpshooting Gear. All they need is the Curious Flattener bracelet, and they are ready to blast their opponents wherever and whenever.

4 Full Gauntlet

A Protective Pair Of Gauntlets

User: Izuku Midoriya Creator: Melissa Shield First Appearance: My Hero Academia: Two Heroes

One of Deku's greatest challenges is his inability to access the full destructive power of One For All without hurting his body. That's why he can only use a small percentage of his power. But that all changed when Melissa Shield gave him the Full Gauntlet.

As the name suggests, the Full Gauntlet is a pair of gauntlets that wrap tightly around Deku's arms. These gauntlets absorb all of One For All's destructive power that should've gone into Deku's arms. This means Deku can safely use his immense power without having to worry about injuring his arms. In fact, Full Gauntlet allows Deku to fire 100% of his tremendous destructive power up to three times before he needs to get a new pair.

3 Allmobile

The MHA Version Of The Batmobile

User: David Shield Creator: David Shield First Appearance: My Hero Academia: Two Heroes

The Allmobile is a one-of-a-kind car equipped with all kinds of tech that can help its driver in a battle against villains. Designed and used by David Shield, whose Quirk is not suitable for fighting, this unique car is his way of giving him a chance against any villain.

Think of the Allmobile as a super-advanced version of the iconic Batmobile. It has rocket engines in the back, can fire missiles, has a unique defense mechanism, and, as if that's not enough, it can fly as well.

2 Armored All Might

The MHA Version Of An Iron Man Suit

User: Toshinori Yagi Creator: Melissa Shield First Appearance: Episode 159

If David Shield has the supercharged version of the Batmobile, then All Might has the beefed-up version of the Iron Man suit. Before the final war, All Might knew that the time may come when he needed to stand up to All For One. Since he can no longer use his Quirk, he asks Melissa Shield to make a special combat armor for him. That was how the Armored All Might came to be.

Armored All Might is All Might's most recent ability that will allow him to take on All For One.

This armor is not only super durable and provides enhanced strength, speed, and flight capabilities, but it is also loaded with weapons based on the Quirks of the students from Class 1-A. From the unbreakable defense of the Red Riot to the binding power of Deku's Blackwhip to the blinding beam of the Shining Hero, this armor successfully replicates the Quirks of All Might's beloved students.

1 Deku's Armor

An Improved Version Of All Might's Armor

User: Izuku Midoriya Creator: Mei Hatsume and Melissa Shield First Appearance: Chapter 430

All Might is not the only quirkless hero who receives powered armor. Years after Deku lost his Quirk in the fight against Shigaraki, All Might presents a new version of the Armored All Might to this young hero. This new powered suit was made through the collaboration of American and Japanese researchers, led by Melissa Shield and Mei Hatsume, and funded by Deku's classmates.

As the improved version of All Might's armor, Deku's Armor is lighter and much more flexible, perfect for Deku's fighting style. Similar to its previous iteration, this armor is also packed with various tech based on real-life Quirks. This time around, however, the Quirks that are replicated by this armor are the ones inside Deku's One For All. Float, Danger Sense, Smokescreen, Fa Jin; this brand-new armor can do it all.

Unfortunately, viewers never get the chance to see Deku's Armor in action, but considering Deku managed to climb all the way to No. 4 in the Hero ranking despite juggling between being a hero and a teacher, it's safe to say that the armor is working as intended. That's why Deku's Armor is undoubtedly the best support item in My Hero Academia.
