In Kurukshetra, a woman sub-inspector was apprehended for accepting a Rs 85,000 bribe. The arrest, part of a sting operation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), targeted the sub-inspector named Satyawanti, who had allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh to remove a man's name from a rape complaint.
ACB officials from Ambala and Kurukshetra collaborated on the operation, following a complaint lodged by the man involved. The man alleged that Satyawanti would help him in the case if he paid the bribe, prompting the ACB to set up a trap that caught her in the act.
The arrest happened after marked currency notes were found in the sub-inspector's possession. A case has been filed against her, and she is slated to appear in court. The original complaint was tied to a woman's allegations against a man, accusing him of a prolonged illicit relationship under false pretenses.
