Debt advice organisation in Salisbury has now helped more than 100 people

A debt advice organisation in Salisbury has now helped over 100 people in financial difficulty.

Community Money Advice (CMA) South Wilts offers free, confidential support to those struggling with budgeting and debt.

Their trained mentors lend a hand to clients, assessing their finances and providing much-needed guidance.

As the cost of living continues to rise, the demand for their services has continued to grow.

The help they provide ranges from assisting in budgeting, liaising with creditors and utilities, or referring clients to other agencies.

One person, John, was struggling to pay his rent, electricity, and other bills due to debt.

The CMA team ran a benefits check, discussed cost-cutting measures, and helped him create a budget.

This collaborative effort helped John to resolve his situation.

Chair of CMA South Wilts, Derek Holloway, said: "Our service is about walking alongside people to offer support and work towards solutions to their problems.

"It can, and often does, take many meetings to get to a satisfactory solution.

"It's seldom 'one and done'.

"It's a strength of our service that we can devote time to our clients."

However, the organisation is in need of volunteers.

Mr Holloway said: "If you are up for this challenging but satisfying work, we'd like to hear from you."

Full training will be offered. Further details at cmasouthwilts.org.uk and contact can be made at [email protected] or 07897 180603.
