27-year-old man facing murder charge after downtown Toronto shooting kills teen

TORONTO - Police say a 27-year-old man is facing a murder charge after an early morning shooting in downtown Toronto on Tuesday.

Police say officers were called to the area of King Street West and Spadina Avenue around 4:45 a.m., where they allege a group of males approached a man and started shooting.

They say the man was struck by gunfire then fired his own gun and struck one of the males in the group.

Both were brought to hospital, where the man's injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening and the male from the group was pronounced dead.

Police say they arrested the injured man on Wednesday and charged him with one count of second degree murder.

The victim has been identified as an 18-year-old man from Toronto.
