Bahrain Hosts 46th GCC Summit, Reinforcing Regional Unity and Cooperation

Manama, November 29, 2025 - Gulf experts and diplomats have praised Bahrain's hosting of the 46th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit as a clear demonstration of the Kingdom's central role in promoting joint Gulf initiatives and advancing regional integration. Observers noted that holding the summit at such a critical time, amid shifting regional and international dynamics, highlights Bahrain's strong political and diplomatic presence under the comprehensive development leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who continues to champion Gulf unity and inter-member coordination.

Officials speaking to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) emphasized that the summit represents a strategic milestone in Gulf cooperation, showcasing the advanced understanding and integration among member states across various sectors. They noted that this collective effort strengthens the GCC's ability to tackle global challenges and build a more stable and prosperous future for the region and its citizens.

Ambassador Khalil Ibrahim Al-Dhawadi, former Assistant Secretary-General for Arab Affairs and National Security at the Arab League, pointed out that Gulf cooperation continues to evolve steadily, driven by deliberate political will and a shared commitment to coordination in facing regional and international challenges. He added that the GCC has established itself as an effective regional organization, contributing to security, stability, and development since its inception.

Al-Dhawadi also noted that each GCC summit provides a renewed opportunity to reinforce Gulf unity and enhance consultations on issues of common interest. Bahrain's hosting of this summit, coinciding with its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council, reflects international confidence in its balanced diplomatic approach and boosts its active participation in regional and global affairs.

Dr. Marzouq Bashir bin Marzouq, former Director-General of Media at the GCC Secretariat, emphasized that the summit demonstrates leaders' commitment to implementing Supreme Council decisions and monitoring joint initiatives through regular reports. He highlighted that this process underscores the Gulf states' dedication to enhanced coordination, achieving a more integrated and developed future, and progressing in key sectors under the shared GCC vision.

Political analyst Professor Mohammed bin Howeidan from the UAE noted that the GCC states present a successful economic model both regionally and globally, and sustainable growth requires deeper integration to advance joint development projects, reinforcing the GCC's economic influence.

Security remains a key priority, he added, as the region faces ongoing challenges, requiring a cohesive and coordinated approach to safeguard the GCC's ambitious development goals.

Kuwaiti political researcher Dr. Ayyad Al-Mana'a described the GCC as a leading example of successful Arab cooperation, praising the Council's decades-long diplomacy characterized by wisdom, balance, and pragmatic approaches to regional and international issues, which has earned global respect and enhanced Gulf influence.

Former Omani Shura Council member Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Zadjali highlighted that the summit is a recurring occasion to reinforce brotherly ties and shared destinies among member states, reflecting the stability, economic growth, and progress achieved through sustained Gulf collaboration.

Media advisor Abdullah Al-Wadaani noted that Bahrain's hosting of the summit reflects its prominent standing within the GCC, its strong relations with member states, and its ability to lead gatherings that advance Gulf cooperation and serve the interests of its people.

Experts agree that the GCC remains one of the most cohesive and enduring regional organizations, thanks to strong inter-member relations, shared visions, and coordinated policies in key sectors such as energy, banking, citizenship, and the economy, all of which enhance the Council's regional and international influence.
